"Some good, some bad"
Start with the good, they were pleasant and asked me if I had a floor preference. Lobby and room were well furnished and very nice. Electronic thermostat, always nice. Now the bad, NO REFRIGERATOR, NO MICROWAVE. I can do without the microwave, but a refrigerator is a must. All night I heard the ice machine going off from guests filling their sinks, […] like me. The bedding was light and not very warm, there was a blanket in the closet, but I had to wonder if it had been washed. No breakfast, they have a "Bistro" instead. So pull out your wallet for some fancy, mediocre tasting food, from the Starbucks franchise in the lobby. Frankly, I expect more from a hotel with the Marriot name on it. I'm very critical when it comes to cleanliness. The room was very clean and comfortable. The lobby had a lot of different arrangements of seating that were great for having a meal, studying, or striking a conversation. The entire staff were very courteous (4-5 star hotel level of service). The coffee and breakfast were excellent, but the burger was […] not very satisfying. The hotel is located near a few restaurants within walking distance; however, if you want to dine at a restaurant across Broad street, you won't find a crosswalk nearby. "Pleasantly Surprised!"
We were so pleasantly surprised by this hotel! It was very clean and the rooms looked like they had been recently renovated. Our room was very nicely decorated. I would have really liked a continental breakfast though. My only issue with the staff was that I was sitting in the bistro area for about an hour reading a book, and never saw anyone behind […] the counter...I really wanted a cup of coffee! Everytime someone entered or exited, it sounded like it was the door to my room being slammed. "GREAT Mother Daughter Get Away"
I am very picky about cleanliness. Everything was absolutely perfect...bathroom, sink area, bedding, carpet, furnishings. Nothing out of order. The hotel staff was VERY friendly and helpful. There was a "no party" policy that we had to sign upon arrival. Since there were multiple sports groups and large family gathering at the hotel, they made sure […] there was no talking in the halls after 10PM and no children running in the halls. The bedding was very comfortable. My daugher enjoyed swimming in the pool. We were only 2 miles away from shopping at Short Pump. This was a beautifully updated hotel with delicious breakfast and Starbucks coffee. Beds were comfortable and I was asked about room preference when I arrived and was given a quiet room away from elevators. My only disappointment was that I had specifically booked a hotel with a hot tub spa, but when I got my suit on and went downstairs there was a […] big ugly sign stating that it was closed until further notice. *sigh* Would have been nice to be informed of this when my reservation was made. Pool was closed down due to a maintenance issue, the front desk called the other Marriot up the street and we were able to use the pool and spa there, we felt the employee's there went the extra mile to make our stay very pleasant. It's on Broad Street, with easy access to both the Innsbrook office park and the Interstate. We were in Richmond for a funeral and didn't arrive at this hotel until 2:30AM. We had to be up and out early the next morning for services and my husband asked for a late check out so we could change our clothers.
