Bar and restraunt being covered by same staff, took 10 minutes to be served for a drink, all the while I observed the staff waiting tables very much all of a flap. Was going to dine but having witnessed the service decided against it. In room entertainment not working and wifi extortionate. The staff were great, the hotel looked great however we were staying with our 1yr old and they gave us a pull out bed rather than a travel cot, not good. They couldnt find out if they had one at 7pm as housekeeping were gone. Fortunately we had one in the boot or we would have been in trouble. Ask for the travel cot at time of booking. I didnt as I […] used Hotels.com so didnt think to call. The bathroom was lovely, strange that the toilet was seperate but definately beautiful. The room facilities felt very modern, futuristic a bit perhaps which was cool however the bed was not the nicest I have slept in and the bedding was hard and uncomfortable. Fortunately I always take my own pillow though it is not normally needed in 3 star plus places. Breakfast was ok, I didnt eat much though as on a diet but the selection seemed reasonable. Very comfortable hotel in central location. Although situated on a main road, the noise is not a problem, and I hardly notice it. Novotel is a good hotel, excellent location not far from the train station and if you book early its good value for money too. Even at the higher room rate than the Ramada I find it worth the extra for comfort and surrounding area as the Novotel is just a very short walk from some pubs and food outlets.

Hotel generally looking a little tired BUT all staff excellent, Reception (Bojan and Emma) sorted out a heating problem and an extra night quicklly, excellent quality light meals in restaurant and brilliant porridge for breakfast. Overall a very good experience

Overall we were very pleased with our stay at the Novotel and would definitely stay there again However our stay was spoilt bythe poor quality of food in the hotel restaurant. The food was cold and not as described on the menu and as such we had to return it. One our guests also found a piece of paper under the duck he had ordered and there was also […] a black hair on another guest's meal. Well positioned city centre hotel. Comfortable rooms - excellent staff and service. Could do with feather pillows and replenishment of bathroom essentials for guests spending more than one day.

Perfect for an overnight stay in ipswich. No frills, central location at a reasonable price. Good clean bathroom, but bedroom carpet stained & separate loo shabby. Would stay again. Lovely staff

A typical business hotel close to the town centre and the newly redeveloped very pleasant Ipswich dock area. Staff were very helpful. "Executive" room clean and comfortable but the layout was a little quirky. We felt that some of the "executive" free add ons were a little mean e.g. wired internet is free, but wireless isn't. "Free movies" - one free […] movie others chargeable and was it £5 or £6.50 for Top Gun (!!) but I guess you could stream your own from Netflix etc. And parking is £7 per day ... The bar area was a little sterile and clinical in the evening ... maybe some palm plants or greenery to create some atmosphere? Breakfast buffet was good and extensive and when my other half asked for fresh eggs they were delivered with efficiency and a smile. For the past three or more years I have always stayed here for the convenience of location to the town centre pubs and restaurants. The big problem for this hotel is that it chooses to prioritise the big business of weddings above loyal customers. The hotel parking area is small and you can never get in because it is closed for the convenience of the […] users of the function. You are left to find nearby pay-parking. Very frustrating. If you can get a space you have to pay for it. Surely it should be complimentary for your patronage? Further, wi-fi as poor as it is, should be free and yet you have to pay for that too. Also don't miss breakfast time! We did by a few minutes and we managed to get cold left overs at full price. Only one night stay to visit Uni open day. £7 24 hour parking on site was considered by some to be a bit steep when all day parking in town is about £3 BUT I would rather have my car outside my hotel than is a multi-story or open car park....so was happy to pay. Dont forget this is the centre of Ipswich not like many hotels on the outskirts of town […] where land is cheaper and fuel costs must be added. Staff were all happy and helpful in all aspects. The Room als a single guest in a double room, i dont understand why there is other 2 single Beds besides the Double Bed, Coffee/Tee portions should be filled up everyday in the room,Coffee tray should be wipe well and no white Hairs/coffee drops from other last guest,it is too unappetite

Room cleaning was not up to standard expected, tissues not replenished after used up. Sugar not replenished for tea and coffee. \\\\staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel is more expensive than others in the area, but allows pets which is a major plus in my case

Very friendly staff made us and our dog feel very welcome. The location was a short walk to both the town centre and the waterfront and marina. Parking was not a problem as there was a very cheap carpark over the road (£1 from 6pm to 8am).The room was clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend.

What can I say apart from totally disappointed and angry. We arrived to attend a wedding with most guests staying in the hotel, to be told it was overbooked. Despite booking 5 months prior to wedding. We then had to trek across Ipswich and then only had 20 minutes to get ready. I did not get a phone all or email to alert me to the problem. The hotel is as you'd expect from a Novotel - except for one alarm bell that rang pretty loudly when we arrived. There is a low-roofed maintenance plant (or power station) by the car park - adjoined to the front of the hotel, and it is LOUD! As we left the car, we joked about getting a room above it - and that's exactly what happened! I ended up with […] around 3 hours of sleep - even after getting dressed at 03:30 to complain. The service manager apologised, but said he wasn't aware of such a problem, and there was nothing he could do. It was all in my imagination! I walked the corridors on the highest floor to see if there were any 'dead' spots we could move to - and found that the noise levels varied only slightly, as the hotel seemed to be built around this industrial 'hive'. Good service from the staff saved it from being a total disaster. Breakfast bad, fruit looked old, the cooked breakfast badly cooked and not ready on time, all the dishes were empty. Room not a 4 star, wood chip wallpaper made it look old and shabby, separate toilet right by the door was no better than a public toilet in a shopping center.

This hotel is Central for everything. Very comfortable and the staff very willing to assist with anything in their remit. I will certainly stay again. (This was not my first stay with this particular Novotel).

Nice place but there are a couple of things they could improve. First, they nickel and dime you to death. Charging for wifi? Really, in this day and age? Secondly, charging for parking. Also, the procedure for parking validation needs to be made clear at checkin. It's a real pain to try to get out of the lot and then have to run back into the hotel […] for validation.
