We selected this hotel for its value. For what we paid and its premiere location South Seas is a great choice if you aren't sweating the details. The pool and hammock area are well kept and add to the hotel experience. You cannot find many hotels with beach access and this location for such an affordable price. The SLS, Shore Club, Mynt, Espanola and […] Lincoln Road are all a very short walk away. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only true negative of this hotel is that the toilets (I checked my friends' rooms as well) are unreasonably close to the door which makes usage difficult. Perfect location - far enough from the noise of Ocean Drive, but close enough to walk. Also, just a couple blocks from the Lincoln Road mall, which was great for shopping. But best was the beach, just right outside the hotel. Very relaxing weekend!

Well, on a trip all through Florida looking at colleges this spring. I decided that I would spend some money and get a really nice hotel in South Beach. This place is not worth the price they charge. We stayed two nights, the first night I was the front room facing Collins. Noise, music, traffic all night, plus you couldn't even open the closet door […] all the way without hitting the bed. I did ask to be moved and I was moved the next day. The room was the same size, but different location and less noise. I could have stayed at a place for $200 less and gotten the same thing. Yes, the beach location is great, but you can get that at multiple lower costs hotels. Not worth it.The breakfast was nice with lots of fresh fruit. The location was perfect. The hotel is worn out and overpriced. The room was very small. The room didn't have enough plugs to even charge our phones. We had to unplug the tv from the extension cord.

Goal was one overnight to experience South Beach. Absolutely perfect place to stay for that. Staff was very helpful. Access to beach and shopping was easy. Definitely would stay again.

Great location, great pool and bar everything else was just OK but for the price I would recommend this hotel for a reasonable south beach stay.

Great location and pleasant pool area protected from the wind. On the beach. Staff was nice and responsive, but poolside was essentially self-service. Beach situation was confusing as some days chairs were free and others cash was collected. Decor, linens and cleanliness fine in our room.

Service less than average starting with a poor valet service at check in which turned out to be a disaster when we found out that quarters left in the car were gone missing! Not a big deal in terms of money but does say a lot about the level of service!! The hotel was ok ,the location was really good But it was kinda family place ,we were just normal in our room and security disturb us 3 or 4 times and wanted us to turn off the music although it wasn't really Loud Even our neighbours are so friendly and came to our room for having some fun But the stuff and security of the hotel just wanted us to sleep […] , I really don't recommended for young people to go to this hotel!!!! When we arrived our room was not available and little was done to make us comfortable. There was no changing area, the front desk staff was not accomodating or knowledgeable or even concerned about where we would go or what we would do just that there was a long line of people waiting for rooms before us. We had to change in a public bathroom far away […] from where our luggage would be stored and reception. We were not notified when our room was ready we had to keep checking back. We could not charge drinks or lunch on our room as they had no idea what room would be ours. When we got our room finally it was outside a very old elevator. The rooms were smaller then most european rooms, the beds were very hard and our view was to a building right next to us. Parties were going on all night in the rooms next to us and people came in all night screaming and the front desk did nothing to keep them quiet. When we checked in they asked if we needed a wake up call and taxi the next day (and we did as we had a 730am flight). We asked for a 515 am wake up call and 545 am taxi. We never got the wake up call, thank goodness I set my phone alarm. When I went down for the taxi the front desk staff was asleep in the back. When I asked about the taxi the woman who checked us in never put the request for the taxi so we had to call again. The service at this hotel was horrible. The room was TINY. Which would have been fine for the one night we were staying but the bed was by far the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept it. It was a double - not even a queen - and was rock hard. The pillows were even worse. My back and neck were killing me the next day. I would never have eaten there anyway but no drink service was a bummer. And they don't tell you this upfront but there is a charge to leave your car after 1pm. The pool area right next to Miami beach was wonderful. I swan for an hour on Sunday morning surrounded by palm trees. A lovely morning. I then had delightful breakfast overlooking the pool area. I remember it fondly and would return again.

All the service was great, each and every single employee was attentive, friendly and with a smile except one older lady concierge who didn't seem so happy nor willing to go above and beyond for guests like the rest.

Don't get a street-side room!!!! The music from surrounding nightclubs was blaring until 5am! It was impossible to sleep from all the noise. The rooms are small but the bathrooms are even smaller! You have to sit diagonally to fit on the toilet. You can tell the hotel wants to have nice rooms (great beds, Keurig machine, flatscreen tv, etc) but the […] old carpeting and outdated bathrooms makes it hard. Great location - right in front of the beach and close to Lincoln road. Attracts a classy crowd (compared to the 3 star boutique hotels on Collins) and is not noisy. My parents paid for a room w/ a King bed and they only had a smaller one available; they gave them $100 in credit to eat at the hotel (just OK food) and gave them the correct room first […] thing next day. The staff is overall superb! The pool area is very nice and there's also an area with hammocks which is real cozy. There's seating available at the beach but for a price. I liked that they didn't charge a "resort fee", but you can still get towels and wifi. Overall excellent value. The rooms were very clean and fresh. And the breakfast is not amazing but they have a killer croissant and some fresh fruit, so it's pretty good considering it's included in the price (factor that in when you're comparing to other, similar hotels). We almost stayed at the Waldorf Roommate Towers, but I don't think that would have been a good idea since it could be too noisy downstairs since it's on Ocean Drive. I've gone the Hotwire route for cheaper 3-star hotels, but if you can spend a few dollar more go for the gold, go for South Seas! Pročitajte više

Location Location. The location of the South Seas Hotel made easy to walk to many locations. I felt safe in the area. The hotel is older but all the hotels in the area are the same. The walls are paper thin so it is very noisy. The bed was very hard. Other than that great place to stay.

The place was clean and conveniently located we arrived on an early morning flight and we were able to check in early at no additional charge. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not great but it was free so I can't complain.

South Seas Hotel is only one of a huge choice of hotels on Collins and Oceanview Rds. I cannot write about value but the open dining room, pool area, and hammocks under the shade of palms trees with immediate access to the beach were all pluses. This is a very well maintained historic hotel...the guestrooms and bathrooms are small in comparison to modern hotels. A very nice continental breakfast is provided, the beach access is excellent, the pool area is beautiful and the "hammock garden" is peaceful. The staff were very accommodating and friendly...we would stay here again!

Within a couple hours of arrival, our toilet backed up. This happened before, chronically, on a previous trip a couple of years ago. A security guard showed up and handed us a plunger through the door--didn't even walk in. We had to plunger the toilet ourselves, and did repeatedly throughout the weekend. Its an old hotel, and I suppose it's to be expected, […] but I certainly didn't expect to have to do my own plunging. The second offence was on Saturday afternoon, at 3:30 pm, as we were sitting by the pool. The manager (I think) came around and told all the guests that we would have to leave the area as a private party was occurring from 5-8 and the furniture needed to be re-arranged. As someone who puts a high value on being able to relax by the pool, and is willing to pay for it, this was a bit off-putting. When I challenged the manager about being a paying guest, he told me I could stay for the party. really??!! Of course the party was packed with conventioneers and loud, so why would I want to stay??!! This was a great disappointment and should be factored into the cost of the stay, or at least warn guests that this is a very real possibility. What if it was my only night in South Beach? My hotel stay would have been ruined. Needless to say, if I don't need to stay at the South Seas again, I will seek out other locations. Pročitajte više

Lovely pool and direct beach access are key features making this a good option. The hotel rooms are a bit dated but the bedding is nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Walking distance to Ocean Drive or quick taxi anywhere else.

The hotel staff when we first arrived at the hotel at night was very nice the man and the valet were both very nice. For the price of the room I was expecting a much nicer room. The room looked very outdated and kind of dingy and they told us that we got an upgrade.... which we could not notice. When we went down stairs to have a drink at the bar the […] bartender who was alone both busing tables and serving drinks was very rude and unpleasant to be around. Location is fabulous. Pool and adjacent area are nice. The only down side is that the rooms are really tiny. The bathroom is so small the towel rack is on the wall inside the tub/shower!

I booked this hotel because the price seemed good. When i got there i noticed it was in the center of everything! When you walk out the front door the downtown area is there, which was all accessible by foot. When you go out the back there is a pool and not much farther is the beach. Hotel needs some serious modernization. Owners minting profits base on location. Hallways smell of age, fluorescent lighting everywhere, not a great value for the money. If you want this location, Collins near beach, better to poney up a bit more for a more current hotel.

Very well located with private access to south beach and near from shops and restaurants. The pool area is amazing, with hammocks, sofas and pool bar! We loved the decoration, very classy! Soundproofing not very good as we could hear people conversation from their room while being in the corridor.
