I was in LA for 24 hour romantic getaway and we needed something last minute, affordable, and clean with free parking in LA (which is hard to come by) and we accomplished all of this at the Holiday Inn Express Downtown West. Granted its a bit confusing to get there and the surrounding area is not the greatest, we both feel we got our money's worth. […] If you are looking for a clean place to stay with free parking, free wifi, and with reasonable pricing I would say that this is your best last minute bet in Los Angeles. I booked through Expedia and the hotel double charged me. When I called back to ask about the charge, the person who picked up the phone was extremely rude. They should really work on training their staffs to learn how to provide quality services through positive attitude!

I was pretty surprised as soon as I walked into my room. It was clean, it looked new, I was satisfied. I stayed 2 nights and both nights, I slept like a baby. The guy at the front desk was friendly and helpful, gave us great tips for food (like don't eat the generic "Panda Express" that was around the corner, but to eat Langer's 2 blocks down). They […] had a free parking lot (got filled up fast though) which is good because of the neighborhood.. The only thing sketchy about this hotel is the neighborhood. It's not the best, and a cab driver told me that other cabbies are reluctant to take people to this area because there are a lot of druggies in the area. Although, this neighborhood is kinda right in the middle of it all.. close to Korea town, close to downtown, close to Fashion District. It's not a great place at all unless your planning to just stay in your room the whole time. If your planning to come with friends or family i do not recommend this place at all. your going to have to travel to find good food and i do not recommend walking or taking the bus especially if your a woman. The Hotel itself is ok the room was clean. The parking garage is small. It needs to be expanded. The surrounding area is bad. Very ghetto and dirty. Looks very unsafe. I would not walk anywhere. It is about 8 minutes driving to get to the staples center.

We spent 5 nights there. Good for the price. Rooms nice and comfortables. Staff very friendly and helpful. Watchouts: Hotel location, not in the best area, however closed to Downtown LA. There was only one elevator and it was used not just by customer but also by room service personnel with their carts. The other elevator was out of service.

The housekeeping skipped our room and there was a ton of trash still sitting when we got back at midnight. When I called about the non-service, the response was that I requested not to clean the room. I never made such request. Everything else about the hotel was nice.

I was very pleased with my stay at the Holiday Inn Express. My room was fantastic. I was attending an event at the LA Studio Center, and I picked this hotel, because it was very close, and it was. This hotel was like new, neat and clean, service was great. But they need to work on their room privacy (sounds) since you can here other guess, specially when having sex. (really annoying)

When i first pulled up to the neighborhood it felt very unsafe and dirty, but i had to remember this was downtown la i was in. A very nice hotel, in a not-so-nice neighborhood. We chose this property due to it's proximity to downtown L.A., but were not prepared for the scary neighborhood that immediately surrounds the hotel.

When I got to the hotel I was told that I had to wait to check in because the front desk clerk was not available at the time. I waited 15 mins in the lobby which was comfortable and they did have the tv on which helped pass the time however, once I walked back to the front desk there was a line to check in. Once I was attended the front desk clerk did […] inform me that I was double booked. I had booked my room through Expedia but due to some sort of error I had booked two rooms and was charged two rooms. She informed me to call Expedia to sort out the problem. She was very polite and only checked me into one room. I immediately called Expedia and they refunded me my money. Everyone from the front desk clerk to customer service did an exceptional job. room was smelly... the sofa chair seemed to be dirty... I had itchiness all over after sitting. Not good neighborhood. There are better hotels for the price.

Although the neighborhood looks pretty run down the hotel is fairly new, and well kept. I was worried about parking but the hotel is fenced with high stone block wall. Best of all they have a shutttle service to downtown so we left our car in the parking lot and used the shutttle.

We enjoyed our stay at Holiday Inn Express. It worked out well for us, the room was very comfortable and clean. Had breakfast there one day also, glad they offer this, you can eat and get going. We were at an event at the LA convention center which is less than 2 miles away so it made it very convenient for us too.

The hotel and the staff were great, however the location was not ideal. As a woman staying by myself I felt very unsafe in the neighborhood. I was not able to walk around the surrounding location during the day or night.

The hotel itself is clean, comfortable and in good condition. My room was modern, and came with a safe, a nice-sized fridge and free wifi. The breakfast options were pretty decent for my family of five -- eggs, bacon, pastries, fruit, waffles, etc. The staff was courteous and helpful. They gave me info on a festival taking place at a nearby park when […] I asked what was going on there, and they gave me take-out menus when I asked if local eateries delivered there. The hotel is located about 2 blocks away from the Metro station, which made it convenient to connect with other areas of town. The non smoking room had an odor, like it used to be a smoking room at some time. The beds were very comfortable. The continental breakfast was a nice plus. I was very pleased with this hotel. The neighborhood is kind of "iffy", but the hotel was very nice. The breakfast (included) was especially good. The staff was helpful and polite.
