I had a hassle free, relaxing getaway at the Vagabond. The hotel is not very fancy but I like the Palm Trees and the employees were very helpful and friendly. It is located near the Fashion Valley Mall and the Trolly Station for easy access to San Diego's downtown and other areas. All in all it was a good stay the room and grounds were very clean but since it is an older hotel the room was worn and the beds were not that comfortable. But that being said for my one night stay it was more than adequate. The only issue I had was there was a strong smell of disinfectant in the room and it took a bit of getting used to

I would definetly stay here again when visiting attractions in the area. I came with my 3 yr old daughter and in the morning I called to see if they could bring me breakfast as my child was still asleep and I didn't want to leave her in the room alone and they were happy to bring me breakfast! I was grateful to have secured lodging within days of my trip and the proximity of this Hotel to the University of San Diego as a real plus. It has everything you need but not 5 stars service. (if you expect nice breakfast, this is not for you). Heard some loud noise outside at night (may be some drunk folks) that happened to stay there that night. Nothing make you feel unsafe at all. You will need your own transportation to get around but it is very easy access to the freeway.

The room served its purpose. It was roomy. Most of all it was clean. The staff were curteous and helpful. I would stay again in a heartbeat!

The staff was fantastic. One of the outdoor pools was heated, which was great because the weather wasn't very nice. The free breakfast could have been a little better..

My husband n I were in town for business and decided to stay a few days for fun. Since we didn't want to fork up 3 figures a night we decided on this location. The outside definitely needed improvement. It looks very old compared to the other hotels in the area. I was a bit skeptical but the reviews sold me. Room space was decent, could use a hair dryer […] since the room has frig, microwave, and iron/ironing board. They had 2 pools which I was surprised as most motels and the best thing. If you ever want to stay in San Diego n be central to everything hotel circle is the way to go. I would recommend this place n would stay again. Had an issue with hotel. But staff were understanding and fixed the issue right away. Manager was very professional and courteous.

It was good for what we needed. Just a place to sleep while our family was having a short vacation. The room was tight for a family with three children. The pool was nice enough. The staff was friendly.

We wanted a location central to the Zoo, Old Town and Sea World and this hotel was perfect for that! Nice room size for my husband, myself and our 3 young kids. Appreciated the microwave, fridge and wifi! Pleasantly surprised by the free breakfast which included homemade waffles! This was a very affordable and comfortable place to stay. If you're looking for something fancy, this certainly isn't it, but for the type of hotel it is, it's great. It was perfect for a weekend family trip to the SD Zoo and Sea World. Location is great. Breakfast is minimal, but it still saves money!

Hotel circle south.. Easy access to mass transit (trolley or bus). Friendly staff ready to answer questions. Room was clean and well maintained.

The staff was helpful and pleasant. The room was generally clean, though the spongy comforter blanket thing was scratchy and would catch hair. Took a few mins to get hot water in the shower and the towels were rough. Once it got warm the water pressure was good and the soap/shampoo/conditioner felt fine. Bring an extra pillow as the hotels are limp […] but the bed was comfortable, even after walking all day. Location was good for driving or taking cabs to our destinations(SD Zoo and SeaWorld) but we had a difficult time walking places from the Hotel Circle area. The Hotel was located close to EVERYTHING in San Diego. Old Town was 5 minutes away. Everything else (Coronado Island, Sea World, the Zoo, Malls) were less than 15 minutes away. It has been recently updated. Sound is heard from the adjacent rooms. Overall, it was worth the money we paid. Comfortable. The room was booked as a non smoking room and when we entered there was a noticeable smoke smell. I called and was told it is a non smoking room.
