Hotel was rundown, service was poor (I had to ask where my room was, how to get there, Internet, breakfast, location of breakfast, everything), but it was convenient and the price was OK.

I was worried about staying at this hotel as there had been a lot of negative reviews about this hotel. However I had nothing to worry about. The shuttle bus from the airport was the reason I decided to stay there as I had a flight at 8am the next day. I found all the staff very pleasant. My room was clean and spacious. However as this was just a stop over for me it did not affect me. I was leaving at 5.30 in the morning and was informed that breakfast started at 5am which is a real bonus as most hotels dont start breakfast that early. There were tea and coffee facilities in the room. I asked for an early morning call and that came at the correct time. Incredibly convenient location with free shuttle service to and from the airport ~1km away. Free breakfast unlike some of the other hotels close to the airport. Reasonable internet connection from the lobby. Bland room, however definitely served it's purpose.

Good shuttle service, rooms worn out and dirty, beds like rocks, "pillows" like concrete, no attention to detail when cleaning, food tolerable, no pool, metal construction wall around the yard ( probably forever, as no construction has been going on for a long time), smoking in lobby affects dining room etc, safe in room is helpful, good water pressure […] in shower. It is only good for a transit passenger for no more than 10 hours in Cairo, as the hotel is really unfriendly.. The rooms are very poor. The good thing about the hotel is the free WiFi in the lobby area and the shuttle bus from and to the airport.

The staff and lobby area were excellent; however, the double room we stayed in was small and tatty around the edges, which was disappointing when the bathroom was in new and excellent condition. Our bed had a small, thin undersheet, with no mattress topper (which would have alleviated the discomfort of the hard unsprung bed), nor a top sheet. The duvet […] had been placed with the buttons at the head of the bed, which meant we had to remake the bed. At night, even with earplugs, the music, from the hotel next door, continued until after 3am; which meant it was impossible to get a good night's rest before our early morning flight. Its a pity, as there is no aircraft noise, and the Novotel had already complained to the neighbouring hotel on a previous occasion. We chose the hotel for it's close proximity to Cairo International Airport, as we had flown from Sharm El Sheikh, and had an early morning flight the following day. We planned to spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool; however the pool area was out of service due to building work. Its difficult to give a good review of ths hotel based on this one experience, and should in no way reflect on the helpful and professional staff, and the fact the the overall facilities offered would have met our expectations had they been available. The overall hotel was nice, but our room was filthy. There was a mysterious white stain on the decorative pillow on the bed, and the sheets were covered in short black hairs. I'm not picky by any means, but the room was bad enough that I was motivated to write a review.

There aren't many choices if you need to spend by the airport. This is the only reason this Novotel is in business. It has a shuttle that goes back and forth between the terminals and the hotel 24/7. I called the hotel before hand and they said there was no need to know when I'm arriving and that I should ask the information at the terminal to call […] the shuttle for me when I arrive. I did that but the information desk said that I should wait outside. He didn't call them. I found the shuttle by chance as I was walking around the airport at 3 am. Bottom line: very inefficient. Room is clean and basic but in much worse condition than it was just a couple of years ago. I called before hand to let them know that I'll check in late, the receptionist refused to take note of that and said that I should call the reservations office between 9 and 4. This is the second time in about a 7 month period I've stayed at this hotel. I use it the night before I have an early morning flight, it just makes it easier since traffic from Cairo can be unpredictable. The rooms are nice and clean. pros: the italian restaurant is truly amazing. the value of the meal and the taste are tremendous. cons: - the breakfast is not diversified, fruits are not fresh, bakeries are hard as rock, the omelet chef takes a decade to prepare your omelet. - the reception guys are amateur and, well, idiots (too many reasons to mention why). - their system mixed […] our booking with someone else's booking, and managed to get a room after one hour negotiation. - the room had connected doors with crazy voices from our neighbors. - the room was designed in a way only half of the bed receives the A/C. - tv channels were too few to count (probably 7 or 8 channels). most of them are useless anyway. - the pool are was under construction, and the area was closed. so the hotel is without a pool. is it worth a 4 star? nope. - no wifi in the room. the ethernet cable is useless as the connection breaks every couple of seconds. - the taxi within the hotel charged us (apparently) 4 times what a normal taxi would charge. the hotel even took 10% as commission charges for using the credit card. pure robbery. - people were smoking in the lobby though there are clear non smoking signs. - each floor contains around 90 rooms. the only elevator in the whole hotel is located in one of the extreme corners of the lobby. my room was 376, and the elevator was next to room no 310. i had to walk all the way to the lobby to go to my room.
