Great ocean front balcony room; we slept with the sliding glass door open at night and enjoyed the sounds of the ocean waves all night. The hotel was ok - needs some serious window replacements - the desk staff could use some training on customer service - the parking was horrible as the hotel lot is not monitored to see if cars are registered and tagged - we had to drive around the lot for an hour in the snow/rain to get a spot! The brochure stated that there were two resturants for […] dinner - one is a bar and the other is very small and the staff did not inform us that reservations were required - hence the reason we were out driving in the rain/snow! There were several things going on this weekend - one being a gymnastics event and apprently many were staying at this hotel - was put off by the parents using the lobby as their drinking spot - allowing their children to run wild - thought the staff should have asked them to gather in someones room or at least control their children! Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and orderly. Pillows said "firm" and "soft" but they are were all very soft. On-site restaurant was very nice, except a little overpriced considering they don't make any of their pasta, for touting themselves as an upscale Italian restuarant that was dissappointing. I like the hotels location and amenities. There were just a couple of things I would like to see changed. The bathroom was not particularly clean--hair on the floor, shower door grooves not clean, sink drain not cleaned well around edges of silver.

Great location! Great service! Great trip! The only downfall is that there is no hotel transportation service between the hotel and the Norfolk Airport. However, I understand that is normal for most of the hotels along the Virginia Beach boardwalk.

The hotel was exceptionally clean and quiet. With its own parking garage there was ample parking. The front desk service couldn't be beat. We'll certainly stay here again.

Had to dust our room upon arrival...other travelers put their room service trays out after breakfast, and I called down at 10:00pm to get them removed...after a staff member moved them 8 rooms down and in front of our room. The hotel was very nice. We were there in September and the pools were still open. It was very nice that there were 3 different pools available. 2 outside and one inside. The location was great. Right on the beach at the end of the boardwalk so it was not overcrowded. There was a Seven Eleven right across the street which made it nice to be able to […] go and grab things. With having a child the fridge in the room helped greatly. It was also nice that the two restraunts offered free breakfast, lunch and dinner with the purchase of an adult meal. My reservation was for 4 people and included breakfast for all, but when I got there the person at the front desk told me I had breakfast for 2, when I showed him my copy of the reservation he quickly changed it for all of us. Water was lukewarm at best. Every time I took a shower it was never as warm as my body temperature. Tissues were never filled. Hotel is as bad as it was 7 years ago. Needs some work again.

We thought the overall experience was pretty good. This is the second time my husband and I have been to Virginia Beach. This was our first time at this hotel and brought our 2 1/2 yr old daughter this time around. Great idea with the microwave and refrigerator in the rooms. Our daughter is all about her sippys and is convenient to have have the fridge […] available at all times. Better and safer than to constantly have a cooler filled with ice all week long. Our room was pretty spacious with an exceptional view of the ocean. I would have like to had the sofa moved to the opposite wall considering our daughter slept in the pull-out and had the air conditioner blowing the cold air toward her all through the night. There could have been more time spent on cleaning... corners of the room were dirty, under the couch hasn't been swept in a while and there was a stain on the floor near one of the night stands by the bed. It is very convenient to have, of course, the beach, but then two outdoor pools and and indoor just in case of rainy weather. Our daughter looked forward to going to to the pools everyday as soon as she woke up. We weren't too thrilled about $6 beers at the pool bar. Unable to bring your own (alcoholic) drinks to the pool, as soon as you crack one open, the beer patrol was all over you to get rid of them. This is an ideal place if you have small kids. Mine are teens so I did not use the kids activity that they provided. The free breakfast is greasy but good - free coffee, fruits, juice, pastries first thing in the morning is a always welcome. The views from our oceanfront room were very nice. The room size (King + Sofa-bed - to fit 4 people) was fine. Balcony is basic but good enough. The elevator that others complain about could be an issue but wasn't, for us.. Staff at the hotel is nice, we forgot a toothbrush and they helped us out. My husband and two sons (12 And 9) had a wonderful vacation for 3 days. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Pools were very convenient and enjoyed by all of us as was the beach!! Would highly recommend for a relaxing family getaway!

I read reviews about this hotel on line and most everyone gave it high marks. The only con that kept on comng up was that there were a good amount of children which sometimes people equate to noise. We had a room at the […] end of the boardwalk and it was absolutley perfect. We stayed at the pool most of the days we were there and it was great. Conveneient pool bar with drinks and food. There was also a place for breakfast if you did not want to go on the strip. The only drawback is that the lunch and dinner restaurant needs a little factlift other than that the food choices were great. The coffee was left over in the machine and that was very disappointing. The elevator were so slow (so crowded) and we had to wait 30minutes for breakfast. I would like to say that the facilities were great.

Hotel lives up to the reviews on both this site and trip advisors. Great vacation, great service and great rooms with a perfect view. This hotel is very safe and great for families with small childern. Thanks to all the staff at the Holiday Inn for a great vactions.

Overall it was a great 4 days vacation, we got there early and we were able to check in half hour before. The location of the hotel is good because it is away from all the noise, but at the same time everything is within walking distance. This is our second stay in this hotel. They've added another pool with slides and the kids loved it very much.
