We've gone often to The Grand, and it is a great beautiful Southern Hospitality respite. Every staff person makes a point of being courteous snd helpful, always eith a kind freeting and smile. The beds are great, and the grounds and golf courses are outstanding. The hotel was fantastic. The grounds were impeccable. Checking in was interesting. Had I not overheard the woman next to me, I would not have known about several amenities including the 4:00 p.m. tradition and high tea. We were greeted with incredible service and politeness throughout our stay. Each time we realized there was something we needed, the personnel was quick to meet our needs. For 36+ hours, my wife and I pretended we were in the 1% (in lifestyle, not politics). The Grand Hotel (Marriott) in Point Clear, Alabama was a perfect setting for a couple's weekend getaway. This hotel/resort is the most quaint and relaxed environment I have ever been in. It is nestled beautifully along the Mobile bay amongst enormous winding oak trees with spanish moss. The landscape is beautifully sculpted into almost what I would consider an art. This is the most beautiful hotel/resort I have ever stayed in.

The room I was promised on hotels.com was not the room that I received (an upgrade from the standard rate, which I paid, but just received the standard room.) Beside that, the room we had was very beautiful. The resort is gorgeous. And the staff is AMAZING. The sunrise from the pier was gorgeous, with the tide rolling in and all the birds fishing and fish jumping right out of the water. We collected sea shells, avoiding the jellyfish with our toes in the sand. We didn't get to take advantage of all the activities there, but there are tons! It was VERY difficult to leave. This resort has so much to offer and with a few tweeks would be a favorite destination. The room was very spacious, but only had double beds. Queen beds could have easily fit and would have been much more comfortable for our family of four. The area is truly beautiful and the calm atmosphere was very relaxing. We loved the pool, tennis, riding bikes […] and roaming the beautiful grounds. Ponds with various water fowl and colorful flowers were everywhere. The biggest drawback was the food. We had an 11 year old boy with us. He did not understand the lack of a child's menu. He ended up eating a Kobe beef burger, expensive and too big. Our other meals were less than satisfactory, terribly overseasoned. I like spice and salt, but every dish was almost inedible. The next night we decided to try pizzas from room service. I waited over 20 minutes on the phone to finally speak to someone on the phone. The pizzas were good, but that might have been because we were so hungry by the time they arrived. We chose breakfast in the room the next morning and it was delicious, by far the best meal we had. If it were not for the food, this would have been one of my favorite vacation spots ever. The people were wonderful. Everything was clean adn well maintained. Our family enjoyed the pool and the beach. Fishing on the pier is a wonderful, free activity. We will definately be back!

The Hotel was beautiful the grounds were breathtaking. However our room was very hot. The AC system did not work very well. We also did not recieve the room that we had reserved. We should have recieved a king size bed.
