The Inter-Continental Budapest is one of the best hotels I have stayed in in Europe, with beautiful views over the Danube near the Chain Bridge. Hotel is in a great location, very convenient to the tourist sights, metro, tram and Christmas market. It is worthwhile to pay more for a room with the view of the Danube river. Room was clean and beds were very comfortable. Only downside would be the expensive wifi and breakfast. Otherwise, a really good hotel.

Hotel was very outdated for an Intercontinental. Bar staff was rude and very, very slow. Be VERY aware that at check out ANYTHING charged to your room or hotel has a 27% tourest tax that you are not told about at check in. You have to pay $20 a day if you want wifi (plus add 27% tourest tax of course). My wife and son had breakfast on a Tuesday morning […] (3) people no alcoholic drinks and our bill for breakfast was $110 (plus let's not forget the 27% tourest tax + tip). I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel. The only disappointment I had was that when I booked and prepaid for our stay I did not notice the option to include breakfast in our booking at a reduced rate. Immediately upon check-in I asked to have breakfast added but they would not give me the reduced rate as the room was already prepaid. The […] full price for breakfast was ridiculous so I declined. This had happened at our hotel in Barcelona and upon check-in I was given the option to include a reduced rate breakfast then. In fact, they even let us try the breakfast on the first morning and then decide whether we wanted it for the duration of our stay. There aren't many restaurants near the Intercontinental offering breakfast (other than cafes and pastries) so this was an issue. No problems .. One caution! Avoid the "hotel's own taxis" and ask for a standard City Taxi. The hotel's taxis charge MORE THAN TWICE the amount charged by the standard city taxis.

Great location - close to restaurants and the main shopping street (Vaci Utca) and within walking distance to most touristic sights. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean with nice amenities. It did feel a bit stuffy though. The bathroom was clean and well maintained. The internet connection was expensive. No free wi-fi in the lobby.

The staff went out of their way to be helpful. For example, when I arrived before check-in time, instead of making me wait for my room to become available, they found another room because they noticed that I used a wheelchair. I didn't have to ask for special treatment.

Every time I travel to Budapest I stay at the Intercontinental! I highly recommend the superior room with a castle view....it's absolutely beautiful. The hotel is clean and fresh. Rooms and bathrooms are a bit small; typical of a city hotel. However, it's very comfortable and a pleasure to return to after touring the city!

Room was nice with view of river and castle on the opposite side. Good location. Large size with nice amenities. Staff helpful and very business-like. EXPENSIVE breakfast -15 Euros pp for continental breakfast. As of Jan. 2012 rooms are non-smoking but halls still reek of smoke.

Excellent hotel. We had a room with a view over the river and the Royal Palace opposite which was amazing. Being by the river it was easy to locate from any direction. This is a major bonus if you've only a short time to get your bearings. Also it was central to the areas of interest.

It faces The Danube and across the river, Buda, the older part of the city where the Palace & Castle are located. The hotel is within easy walking distance of most places of interest. I found the room to be quite large and the bed comfortable. TV could have had more English programmes, instead of just kid's programmes, but as I wasn't there to watch TV, it didn't really matter. I would certainly recommend this hotel. One other point to remember, the electronic door key is also used to operate the lifts, something that we weren't told of, and you feel a complete prune, standing in the lift, pushing all the buttons and the doors continually opening & closing, especially when there's an audience of many people from lots of different countries.
